The College of Nursing at The University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Park campus in Long Beach is accepting applications for admission into the spring 2015 class for the baccalaureate of nursing degree program. The deadline for applications is September 1, 2014.

Requirements for admittance into the nursing bachelor's degree program include a minimum national composite American College Testing (ACT) score of 21 or above, all prerequisite courses completed before nursing classes are begun, and successful admission to Southern Miss, among other specific requirements. Additionally, the Southern Miss bachelor of nursing degree program requires clinical experiences, which in turn may require a criminal background check.

The university's College of Nursing requires applicants to have completed the Kaplan Admission Test. This admissions test is a tool to determine if students have the academic skills necessary to perform effectively as a student in the College of Nursing. The test features 91 multiple-choice questions used to evaluate the basic reading, math, writing, and science skills of students seeking entry into a nursing program leading to the registered nurse licensure.
