Scottish Professor, Researcher to Give Public Lecture on Dolphin Communication

Dr. Vincent Janik of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland will present “Vocal learning under the sea: Acoustic communication in bottlenose dolphins” at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10 in Hardy Hall 316 on the Southern Miss Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach.

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus in Long Beach will host a Comparative Cognition and Communication meeting featuring a presentation by Dr. Vincent Janik of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Focusing on the communication of bottlenose dolphins, the event will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10 in Hardy Hall 316.

Janik, a prominent researcher in dolphin communication, will present “Vocal learning under the sea: Acoustic communication in bottlenose dolphins.” The lecture is free and open to the public. In addition to the presentation, guests will also learn about opportunities to participate in comparative research with a variety of species.
