Siltanen Honored for Service as Judge of VFW Essay Program

Dr. Lawrence Hosman, left, professor of communication studies at The University of Southern Mississippi, receives a Certificate of Appreciation honoring his late wife, Dr. Susan Siltanen, from Ted Tibbett, center, and Chuck Singleterry of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3036. The VFW honored Dr. Siltanen for her nearly 30 years of service to the VFW Post 3036 as a judge for its student essay scholarship program. Siltanen was a professor of communication studies and former dean of the Graduate School at Southern Miss. Members of the Southern Miss Graduate Student Senate will now serve the VFW as judges for the contest as a community service project. (University Communications photo by David Tisdale)
