Southern Miss Communications Offices Receive Awards in State Competition

Shelia White, director of University Communications, and Charmaine Schmermund, assistant director of public relations, at The University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast Office of University Communications received two professional awards at the 2014 Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) Awards Banquet in Hattiesburg.
Schmermund received a PRism Award for the entry, “Gulf Park Campus Returns Press Release,” in the Tactical Materials/Projects – Press Releases category. The PRism Award is given to exceptional work in its field and surpasses all other entries in that category. Of nearly 150 entries submitted into the competition, only 14 were selected for PRism Awards.
In the category of Tactical Materials/Projects – Newsletters and Magazines, White, Schmermund and the Hattiesburg Office of University Communications received an Award of Excellence for the entry, “Venture Magazine – Gulf Coast Issue.” The Award of Excellence is given to work worthy of recognition.
