The Children's Center for Communication and Development at The University of Southern Mississippi will present a professional development workshop: “Exceptional Learners, Exceptional Instruction” Oct. 2-3 at the Thad Cochran Center on the Hattiesburg campus.

The workshop will feature interactive sessions and is designed to teach attendees the essentials of communication that must be in place for successful language learning; to teach necessary supports that promote engagement, participation and independence in language learning; and to teach attendees how to develop materials to increase engagement, participation and independence. Each attendee will have the opportunity to develop teaching materials to take with them.

Speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, special education instructors and early interventionists will all benefit from this unique workshop.

There is no cost to attend the workshop, but space is limited. The workshop is offered for 0.9 continuing education units for educators at a fee of $20. For more information call the Office of Professional Development and Educational Outreach at 601.266.4186 or visit: http://www.usm.edu/training
