University Police Make Arrest in Cyberstalking Case

University of Southern Mississippi Police has arrested a former student at the school for allegedly stalking two members of the faculty and posting an e-mail threat against the University at its Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach.
Joshua Scarabin, 40, of Carierre, Miss., has been charged with two counts of cyberstalking and one count of posting a threat to cause injury. Bond has been set in Forrest County Justice Court at $25,000 for each count.
The arrest was made Saturday after warrants were served on Scarabin in Carierre by the Pearl River County Sheriff's Office.
“We urge any member of the University community to take threats made against them or others on the internet seriously, and to contact our department in these instances,” said University Police Department (UPD) Detective Rusty Keyes. “We're grateful for the assistance of the Pearl River County Sheriff's Office in this matter.”
