College Alcohol Awareness Week Outreach Oct. 19-20 on Hattiesburg Campus

National College Alcohol Awareness Week (CAAW) is scheduled for Oct. 19-24. As part of CAAW, members of the Behavior and Alcohol Research lab at The University of Southern Mississippi have planned outreach activities Oct. 19-20 to help students better understand the effects of harmful alcohol use and benefits of safe drinking strategies.
*Monday Oct. 19 – “You Call the Shots" 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the R.C. Cook Union Atrium. Students will learn about how much alcohol they are actually consuming in their favorite beverages and the potential associated health effects as well as safe drinking strategies.
*Tuesday Oct. 20 - Drunk goggle and alcohol myth busting activities from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the R.C. Cook Union Atrium. Goggles will be available that simulate different levels of blood alcohol content, and associated activities will have participating students engage in tasks as well as provide information to dispel common myths about drinking.
Members of the Behavior and Alcohol Research lab are also available to offer brief safe drinking discussions to groups or classes before CAAW.
