Free Housing Grant Assistance Event Set for October 27 in Jackson

Tired of renting? Interested in buying a newly renovated home in Jackson? The Home Buyer Advantage Program may have exactly the home you're looking for.

Those interested can learn more at a housing event to be held Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 3 until 7 p.m.at the Jackson Medical Mall at 350 West Woodrow Wilson Boulevard in Jackson. This free event is open to the public.

“Loans for eligible homebuyers begin at $46,000, with estimated mortgage payments at less than $400 per month, when the available grant is applied,” said Cassie Hicks, assistant director of housing at the Institute for Disability Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi. Gather information on how to get prequalified for a grant of up to 50 percent of the home's appraised value. Talk with lenders, realtors and housing counselors to learn how you can become a homeowner, and also to get fair housing information. This event is sponsored by the Institute for Disability Studies, the Mississippi Home Corporation and the Mississippi Development Authority.
