What path will you chart? That is the primary question being asked by the Department of Resident Life at The University of Southern Mississippi, which will host an inaugural “Legacy Dinner” on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The event is set for 6 p.m. in the Thad Cochran Center ballrooms on the Hattiesburg campus.

The pancake dinner is designed to help students learn how to take a more active role in the shaping of their personal, campus and future lives. Students will be encouraged to stop standing on the sidelines as a simple bystander.

“The first half of the evening is focused on inspiring students to think about what kind of personal legacy they want to leave here at the University,” said Kimberly Chamberlain, Residence Life coordinator – Wilber Hall. “We are asking them to think about what they want to be known for, and then to take action steps to see that happen.”

Chamberlain notes that table leaders (staff members, graduate students and undergraduate student leaders) will steer the conversation in the program's opening segment. The second half will feature a keynote address by Associate Dean of Students Wynde Fitts, who will discuss the importance of making a difference on, and off, the Southern Miss campus.
