Southern Miss Dance Students to Perform At Lake Byron and Town Square Park

Tue, 10/06/2015 - 03:18pm

The University of Southern Mississippi's Repertory Dance Company will host "Exchanging Innocence: Site-Specific Dance Performances”  Sunday, Oct. 11 with a 2 p.m. performance at Southern Miss' Lake Byron and a 4 p.m. performance at downtown Hattiesburg's Town Square Park.

The site-specific dance performances feature the work of senior dance majors Sierra Howard of Maryville, Tenn., Arrielle Dale of Meridian, Miss. and Cassie Zaremba of Citronelle, Ala.

“Each piece is uniquely choreographed around the sites, providing viewers the opportunity to experience each location in new and exciting ways,” said dance instructor Meredith Early.

Dale choreographed and will perform “An Equitable Path” in Town Square Park.

“This is my senior project, and I was just really inspired by the site I am using,” Dale said. “I wanted to do something fun that invited the Hattiesburg community and its beauty to be a part of my piece. Don't think of this work as a concert, but more so as a day at the park.”

The price of admission for this event is $5, and checks and cash are accepted. For more information about events in the College of Arts and Letters at Southern Miss, visit http://artsandlettersnow.usm.edu.
