Department of Recreational Sports Brings TRX Program to Southern Miss

Mon, 06/20/2016 - 12:43pm | By: April Jordan

TRX, an innovative total body resistance exercise program, has come to the Payne Center at The University of Southern Mississippi. The program is the largest TRX install in Mississippi.

The install features 24 suspension and 12 rip trainers in the Dogwood group exercise studio located inside the Payne Center on the Hattiesburg campus. The Payne Center's group exercise program will feature three different TRX themed classes: TRX Bootcamp, TRX Blast and TRX Basics. The classes are offered free of charge to all Southern Miss students and Payne Center members.

TRX was originally designed by a Navy Seal who needed to stay in shape within limited space using something he could easily take on his travels. This concept developed into a popular fitness program nation-wide that draws on leading-edge research and best practices from the military, pro sports and academic institutions for individual and group exercise training.

TRX training incorporates both upper and lower body workouts using suspended resistance bands. An emphasis in core training is found throughout all exercises.

Whether you are just beginning your fitness journey or pushing to reach your limits, TRX Training is an effective program that gives you a scalable, sustainable, fun, effective approach to help you achieve your personal best. It meets you where you are and takes you where you want to go while blurring the lines between training and play, strength and flexibility and empowering you to be better at what you love.
