Southern Miss Group Presents at Academy of Human Resource Development Research Conference

Dr. Cyndi Gaudet, Chair and Professor in the Department of Human Capital Development at The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park campus, led a group of faculty, students and alumnus as participants in the 2016 Academy of Human Resource Development International Research Conference in the Americas Feb. 18-22 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Doctoral students Kady Pietz, Tenesha Batiste, Saurabh Gupta, and Richard Blackwood participated in a two-day, pre-conference Graduate Student Colloquium. As participants in the colloquium, they examined various aspects in HRD, including: the role of research, research paradigms, critical issues and emerging themes, and the role of professional organizations.
The group also learned honed research evaluation and critique skills. The course provided a venue for sharing research and exploring the establishment of a scholarly identity in an academic career.

- Dr. Alan Martinez, Dr. Cyndi Gaudet, and Dr. Dale Lunsford, “Impact of Cockpit Automation on Crew Resource Management Pilot Monitoring and Backup Behaviors”
- Richard Ayers and Dr. Cyndi Gaudet, “Optimizing Workforce Performance: Perceived Differences of Army Officer Critical Thinking Talent Across Level of Education”
Dr. Quincy Brown, HCD faculty member, served as a panel member and presented “What is Ethical Research and Practice in HRD? (Re-) Examining HRD Standards on Ethics and Integrity.” The session fostered scholarly exploration of the issue.
Gaudet served as Chair of AHRDs Program Excellence Network. This two day pre-conference provided an opportunity for academic program chairs to share best practices. The Program Excellence Network is committed to strengthening HRD academic programs and promoting excellence in teaching HRD.
Dr. Heather Annulis served as Session Host and Reviewer. The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Jack and Patti Phillips Workplace Learning and Performance Institute served as a sponsor for the Presidential Dinner.
