The Frances Karnes Center for Gifted Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi will hold its Parenting Gifted Children Workshop Series Jan. 27, Feb. 3 and Feb. 10. The free workshops are from 10-11 a.m. in room 204 of the J.B. George Building on the Hattiesburg campus. This workshop series coincides with the center's Saturday Gifted Studies Program.

The Jan. 27 workshop will focus on giftedness in preschool-first grade. The Feb. 3 and Feb. 10 workshops will examine giftedness in second-fifth grades, and in middle and high school, respectively. These workshops are designed to help parents and others understand the unique intellectual, academic, and social-emotional needs of gifted and talented children. Topics will include information on testing, advocacy for your child, home disciplinary strategies and methods to help gifted students develop college and career goals.

Applications are still open for students in preschool through eighth grade.
Those interested in attending are asked to register online at http://www.usm.edu/gifted to ensure seating, and are encouraged to list additional topics of interest. Contact the Karnes Center at 601.266.5236 with any questions or comments.
