Southern Miss Gulf Park Celebrates Earth Week April 17-22

In observance of Earth Day on April 22, The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus will celebrate the worldwide event with weeklong programming April 17-22 for Earth Week.

During Earth Week, students, faculty and staff will participate in various educational programs, highlighting sustainable practices, ideas and environmental issues affecting the planet.

A schedule of programming is as follows:

*Monday, April 17
Painting of the Little Rock
8:30 a.m., Eagle Plaza

*Tuesday, April 18
Poetry Reading
12:15 p.m., Fleming Education Center Rotunda

*Wednesday, April 19
Documentary Screening: Before the Flood
5:30-7:30 p.m., Fleming Education Center, Room 104

*Thursday, April 20
Recycling Kick-off Lunch and Learn
12:15 p.m., Fleming Education Center, Room 104

*Friday, April 21
“Wet Foot, Dry Foot”
8:30 a.m., Canoeing at Black Creek

Saturday, April 22, Earth Day
March for Science
Meet: 2 p.m., Long Beach Town Green
March: 3 p.m. to Fleming Education Center Auditorium
Speakers and Entertainment: 4-7 p.m.

Earth Week is sponsored by EcoEagles, Gulf Park Physical Plant, the Office of Sustainability and the Student Government Association at Gulf Park. Events are free and open to the public.
