Southern Miss to host Scholarly Talk on Gulf Park Campus Sept. 19

The University of Southern Mississippi will host a scholarly talk, featuring Dr. Sam Hyde of Southeastern Louisiana University, Tuesday, Sept. 19, on the University's Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

Hyde will present “Feuds, Lynchings, and Bushwhackings: Historical Extra-Legal Violence in the Gulf South and the E.A.R. Theory as Possible Solution” from 11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Hardy Hall, University Club. This event is co-sponsored by the Center for the Study of the Gulf South and the College of Arts and Letters on the Gulf Park campus.

Hyde is the director of the Center for Southeast Louisiana Studies, a professor of history, and the Leon Ford Endowed Chair in Regional Studies at Southeastern Louisiana University. He is also the author of The Enigmatic South: Toward Civil War and Its Legacies.
