USMs Coastal Operations to Close Due to Threat of Severe Weather from Tropical Storm Nate

University of Southern Mississippi operations at the Gulf Park campus, Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, and Stennis Space Center will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, and will remain closed through Monday, Oct. 9, in anticipation of severe weather conditions associated with Tropical Storm Nate. Normal operations, including classes, are expected to resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Non-essential employees are advised to refrain from coming to the Gulf Park campus, Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, and Stennis Space Center during the time operations are closed.

University officials are continuing to monitor weather reports for the Hattiesburg campus and will notify the University community if closures or class cancellations on Monday are warranted.

Please continue to closely monitor local media outlets for updated information as the storm approaches. If extended closure or cancellation of classes is warranted, the University will distribute related information through official communication channels.
