USM's Delta Gamma Sorority Earns Awards at Biennial Convention

The Delta Pi chapter of Delta Gamma sorority at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) took home four major awards from Delta Gamma's 68th Biennial Convention, held recently in Phoenix. Criteria for the awards includes excellence in programming, retention, recruitment, and financial stability. Founded in 1873, Delta Gamma has 152 collegiate chapters and more than 200 alumnae chapters. More than 250,000 women having been initiated into the sorority. The Delta Pi chapter of Delta Gamma sorority at USM was founded in 1973.

University of Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra Announces Passing of the Baton at 2018-19 Season

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Symphony Orchestra plans historic 99th concert season for 2018-19.  In the season, titled “Tribute,” the Symphony pays homage to a variety of composers, performers, conductors and cultures. With a renewed dedication to provide the very best in orchestral performances for our community and region, the orchestra transfers from the incredible leadership of Dr. Jay Dean to the interim direction of longtime collaborator, professor of music, Dr. Michael Miles.

The Marine Education Center at USM's Gulf Coast Research Laboratory is hosting a series of camps for students this summer. The popular Sharkheads Shark Fest camp (for grades 7-12) continues today and again next week. Spend a week learning all about one of the ocean's apex predators. Shark Fest participants may encounter Atlantic sharp nose, bonnethead, blacktip, spinner, hammerhead and bull sharks. To schedule coverage, contact James Skrmetta at 228.872.4254.
