-The USM baseball and softball teams will be hosting Trick or Treat at the Pete today from 5:30-7 p.m. at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field. Children of all ages are welcome to come out in their best Halloween costumes and enjoy Trick or Treat festivities with the Southern Miss baseball and softball players and coaches. Each Golden Eagle squad will be in their favorite Halloween costumes during the event.
-British author Dr. Kevin Bales, one of the world's foremost authorities on human slavery, will present a guest lecture today at 6:30 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus. The event is co-sponsored by the University Forum, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Honors College. The lecture is free and open to the public. The University of Southern Mississippi's College of Business and Economic Development utilized collaboration with three departments -- Economic Development, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Sports Management -- to assist the city of Grenada on a recent sports complex feasibility study.
IDS Program Creates Interactive Art Opportunities for Gulf Coast Community
The University of Southern Mississippi Institute for Disability Studies (IDS) has introduced an inclusive art-based program, “Art on the Go,” for the local Gulf Coast community to utilize as participants in unique and expressive art projects. IDS' Recreational Therapist Tyler Edwards travels to local schools, agencies, organizations and group homes to provide the program on a monthly basis.
