-Classes begin today for USM's 2018 Fall Semester at the Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses.

-As a way to open the 2018 fall semester at The University of Southern Mississippi, the Hub Dance Collective (HDC) will perform “Meet Me Again,” Aug. 30-31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Theatre and Dance Building, Studio 115 on the Hattiesburg campus. The dances explore emotional journeys through metaphors of movement and environment.

The current full moon in August is named after North America's largest fish, the lake sturgeon. Professor Mark Peterson, Department of Coastal Sciences, fisheries ecology, is available today to discuss the importance of the lake sturgeon. One of his current research projects involves quantifying movement and habitat use of all life stages of the federally and state threatened Gulf sturgeon. Pride of Mississippi Marching Band Preview Set for Aug. 31

The University of Southern Mississippi's Pride of Mississippi Marching Band and the Dixie Darlings are ready to kick off the 2018-19 football season with the annual Pride Preview performance. This free concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday Aug. 31 at Centennial Lawn on the Southern Miss Hattiesburg campus, prior to Friday Night at the Fountain.
