LaQuitta Simpson, a senior from Kenner, La. and Lauren Parker, a senior from Clinton, Miss. were selected by a Drapeau Center review committee for funding to participate in the 2019 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga. April 10-13.

The funding award covers transportation, accommodations, conference registration fees, and meals. USM psychology faculty members Dr. Nora Charles and Dr. Lauren McKinley serve as mentors for Simpson and Parker, respectively.

Presented by the Council on Undergraduate Research, the NCUR welcomes student presenters of research from institutions of higher learning and across academic curriculums. The stated purpose of the event is the creation of a unique environment for the celebration and promotion of undergraduate student achievement; provide models of exemplary research, scholarship, and creative activity; and help to improve the state of undergraduate education.
