Fri, 11/16/2018 - 11:00am | By: Geoff LoCicero

Students with extra Bonus Bucks at the end of the semester are encouraged to purchase and donate food to the Eagle's Nest food pantry.

In the final two weeks of school, Nov. 26-30 and Dec. 3-7, the four Eagle Dining P.O.D. locations on the Hattiesburg campus will have donation bins available so that students can put to good use their Bonus Bucks that otherwise would expire.

Donations will be accepted during normal weekday hours at P.O.D. locations at Century Park Market, Liberal Arts Building, Scianna Hall and Thad Cochran Center. See the Eagle Dining website for details.

Recommended items include:

  • Fruit cups
  • Drinks
  • Tuna on the go
  • Noodle cups
  • Water
  • Pop-Tarts
  • Cereal
  • Breakfast bars

The Eagle's Nest, located in The Hub basement, is an initiative started by the School of Social Work and managed by its graduate student organization. It is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It is available for students, staff or faculty who experience temporary challenges meeting their basic needs of food or other necessities. On average, it distributes 400 pounds of food to 120 clients each week.
