University of Southern Mississippi accounting students Jenna VanDan and Aubrey Sanders have been awarded the Rhyne E. Neubert Scholarship by the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) Foundation.

VanDan is a senior from Summit, Miss., while Sanders is a Hattiesburg, Miss. native currently pursuing her Master in Professional Accountancy at USM.

The $2,500 scholarship was established in 2016 to honor Neubert who had served as a trustee of the MSCPA Education Foundation since its inception.

“I was at a loss for the adequate words to thank the School of Accountancy at USM, not only for the nomination, but also for its investment in me,” said Sanders, who earned her BSBA degree from USM this summer. “Moreover, I was and still am incredibly grateful for the MSPCA, Mr. Neubert, and the selection committee for this honor.”

VanDan echoed those sentiments. “I was ecstatic and honestly in disbelief that I was being awarded this scholarship,” she said. “Receiving this scholarship reaffirmed that hard work and determination will be recognized and rewarded.”

Founded in 1920, the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) is the largest professional organization serving the needs of Mississippi CPAs and aspiring CPAs.
