Brandon Cade, left, was recently presented with the Mississippi Young Bankers Leadership Scholarship for 2018.

Brandon Cade, a junior finance major at The University of Southern Mississippi, has been awarded the 2018 Mississippi Young Bankers (MYB) Leadership Scholarship by the Mississippi Bankers Association.

A finance professor from each of the state's eight public universities nominates a single student for the MYB Leadership Scholarship. Only one student in the state is chosen to receive the scholarship. Cade is the sixth USM student to win the $2,000 scholarship in the last eight years.

"I am extremely honored to receive this award from the Mississippi Banking Association and the Mississippi Young Bankers,” said Cade, a Brookhaven, Miss., native. “This award is important to me, because it will help to continue my education at Southern Miss. I would like to thank Dr. (Marvin) Bouillon for seeing enough potential in me to nominate me for the award.”

Bouillon, the Interim Director of the School of Finance at USM noted that Cade's work ethic made him an obvious choice for nomination.

“This is a great honor for Brandon. He has worked hard to be one of the best finance students in the State of Mississippi. “We expect great things from him in the future,” said  Bouillon.

After graduation, Cade plans to pursue a career in the banking industry in Mississippi.

The Mississippi Young Bankers Leadership Scholarship has been awarded since 1998. The mission is to not only give students monetary recognition, but also encourage them to pursue banking careers in Mississippi. For more information visit www.msbankers.com
