USM College of Business and Economic Development to Host 5th Inspired Leaders Series

The College of Business and Economic Development at The University of Southern Mississippi is set to host its fifth Inspired Leaders Series this fall with the first presentation set for Oct. 25. The series is free and open to the public. 

Maxine Coleman, a retired executive from Mars, Incorporated, has been invited to engage students in conversations about what inspired her as a successful professional from 9:45 a.m. – 11 a.m. in Scianna Hall, McDonnell Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus.

β€œIt is always exciting to hear from successful executives as they talk about what inspired them in their careers and how they inspired others. The College of Business and Economic Development is fortunate to have Maxine Coleman for our fall series,” said Dr. Faye Gilbert, dean of the College of Business and Economic Development. 

Coleman served as Vice President, Personnel and Organization with Mars, Incorporated. Prior to her career there, Ms. Coleman worked for Kat Kan Foods Inc., Mars Electronics and SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline) in a number of management positions in personnel and marketing.

In addition to teaching at several universities as part of the National Urban League's Black Executive Exchange Program, she has consulted and conducted seminars for many organizations, including the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, The Conference Board, Berean Institute, La Salle University and Drexel University.

She served as the national director for the Society for Human Resources Management and has lifetime memberships in the National Black MBA Association, the Executive Leadership Council and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
