Epsilon Delta Chapter won the Founders' Cup award during the recent Chi Omega Convention.

The Epsilon Delta Chapter of Chi Omega at The University of Southern Mississippi capped off an impressive 2017-18 academic year by capturing the prestigious Founders' Cup presented to the organization's top-5 performing chapters. Winning chapters are announced every two years.

Epsilon Delta President Alexis Bexley, of Spanish Fort, Ala., points out that several noteworthy factors contributed to the chapter's recognition. Among those:

  • A 3.59 chapter GPA at the conclusion of the 2018 spring semester (a new chapter record)
  • A top ranking in grades among USM Greek organizations
  • New member program for 2017 named Most Outstanding at the University's Greek Awards ceremony
  • Ginny Graham named Most Outstanding Adviser

The USM chapter includes 105 active members. Bexley, a senior elementary education major, said that she was overcome with emotions when the award announcements were made during the 2018 Chi Omega Convention held earlier this month in Phoenix, Ariz.

“Pride, excitement, joy and honor are what I felt as I accepted the Founders' Cup on behalf of my chapter,” said Bexley. “Being able to accept the award was very humbling and represents a reflection of the hard work of each member over the past two years.”

Founded in 1895 at the University of Arkansas, Chi Omega is the largest women's fraternal organization in the world with more than 355,000 initiates, 181 collegiate chapters, and more than 240 alumnae chapters.

“We are so thankful to be a part of the Greek community at Southern Miss,” said Bexley. “We have been showered with love and support and our brothers and sisters in Greek Life, and the many faculty and staff that support and encourage Greek Life on campus.”
