USM to Host Special Entrepreneurship Event on Nov. 13

University of Southern Mississippi students with aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur are encouraged to attend the “Eagles Engaged in Entrepreneurship” event set for Nov. 13 in the Thad Cochran Center on USM's Hattiesburg campus.
Entrepreneurship students in the College of Business and Economic Development are serving as hosts of the event which will be held from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in rooms 214 and 218.
Students of all majors can experience and learn about entrepreneurship in a fun environment during the program which features creative activities, food, a shark tank challenge, and short presentations by local entrepreneurs on topics such as: start up, funding, human resources, and marketing a business.
Entrepreneurs in the arts (i.e. music, art) share their entrepreneurial journeys as well. Participants are asked to come with an open mind or with any general questions about entrepreneurship.
Students will have the opportunity to learn more about resources available on campus for entrepreneurs, and have a chance to network with local entrepreneurs and aspiring student entrepreneurs.
Gabrielle Morgan, a senior entrepreneurship major at USM states that “we hope this event educates students on how to pursue their entrepreneurial ventures by giving them helpful tips from the seasoned entrepreneurs and business owners.”
The event is the first of its kind to be held at USM and is part of a class project for students in the New Venture Creation course in the School of Management.
Entrepreneurship Professor and Interim Associate Dean Dr. SherRhonda Gibbs added, “Southern Miss students are extremely entrepreneurial, and it's important to provide a venue for these students to connect, interact, and access the resources they need to start successful new ventures.
