Wed, 01/17/2018 - 06:55pm

The University of Southern Mississippi will resume normal operations at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, for all campuses, teaching and research sites. Classes will resume at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

All Physical Plant employees, including custodial staff, should report to work at 8 a.m.

While conditions improved throughout the day Wednesday, please proceed with caution when traveling by vehicle or foot on Thursday morning, especially in shaded areas on less frequently traveled roads or sidewalks.

As a reminder, the Mississippi Department of Transportation recommends the following when traveling by vehicle in winter weather:

-Slow down. Should winter weather conditions become present, “black ice” can form.

-Allow more space between your vehicle and the one in front of you.

-Brake early and gently to avoid skidding, and never slam on the brakes.

-Avoid distractions, such as talking or texting on a cell phone.

-Stay alert.

The majority of food service locations, including the Fresh Food Company and Seymour's, will open at 8 a.m. on Thursday. Visit Eagle Dining on Facebook or Twitter for hours for all locations.
