SPECIFICS:  USM's Center for Fisheries Research and Development (CFRD) is hosting a “Fisheries Fun Day” at the Marine Education Center (MEC) March 23, 2019. The event is open to the public and will feature seminars on marine science topics, raffles, hands-on activities for the whole family, and guided MEC tours. This year's event evolved from CFRD's annual “Fisheries Workshop,” which solely featured speakers and seminars. CFRD worked to change the event to be more including for all ages.

Speakers begin at 9:15 a.m. and have 20 minutes to present on their topic before the next seminar begins. Topics include: red snapper season regulations, bull sharks, sea debris, and tarpon.

Fisheries Fun Day is coordinated with, and funded by, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources through the Sport Fish Restoration Program.
