University Libraries' Special Collections to Host Exhibit Opening for Student Curated Exhibits April 17
University Libraries' Special Collections at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is hosting an exhibit opening to highlight exhibits curated by three USM students on April 17 from 4 to 5 p.m. in McCain Library and Archives, room 305.
Special Collections leads a program that provides students the opportunity to curate mini-exhibits featuring materials from the collections. Students learn how to select items for display, install the materials, write labels and exhibit text, and publicize the exhibit.

-USM's Center for American Indian Research and Studies and Golden Eagles Intertribal Society is hosting the annual Southern Miss Powwow, beginning Thursday, April 11, at 9 a.m. with School Day as students from area schools attend the event at Petal's Willie Hinton Park. The Powwow continues through Sunday, April 14. -Dr. Heather Stur, associate professor of history, will give the USM Philosophy and Religion program's Barefield Lecture Thursday, April 11, from 3-4 p.m. in room 108 (Gonzales Auditorium) of the Liberal Arts Building on the Hattiesburg campus. The title of her presentation is "The U.S. Military and Civil Rights: Pragmatic Progressivism."
-The USM School of Psychology is co-sponsoring a special colloquium with Pine Grove Behavioral and Addiction Services Thursday, April 11, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Trent Lott National Center, room 103 on the Hattiesburg campus, featuring renowned court testimony expert Dr. Stan Brodsky who will present “Testifying in Court: The Expert Expert Witness.”
