Human Trafficking Conference Set for Friday-Saturday at USM

One of the top criminal activities in the world, human trafficking, will be the focus of The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Center for Human Rights and Civil Liberties' 4thconference, “Human Trafficking: Awareness and Action” set for Friday April 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in rooms 101-102 of the Liberal Arts Building on the USM Hattiesburg campus. Co-sponsors for this event are USM's College of Arts and Sciences, The School of Social Sciences and Global Studies, and the Honors College. USM's University Forum is co-sponsoring Friday's keynote talk by Jeanette Westbrook, a human rights advocate who serves on United Nations panels working to combat trafficking. USM Inducts 13 into Graduate Student Hall of Fame during Special Ceremony

Thirteen new honorees were inducted into The University of Southern Mississippi's (USM) Graduate Student Hall of Fame during a special ceremony held Tuesday, April 2 on the Hattiesburg campus. As part of the celebration, portraits for each of the inductees were unveiled at McCain Library.

USM Veterans Center Adds Veterans Services Officer to Staff

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Center for Military Veterans, Service Members and Families in collaboration with Mississippi Veterans Affairs recently established a full-time Veterans Services Officer position on the Hattiesburg campus. The Mississippi State Veterans Board recently selected Teddy Reed to join the USM Veterans Center team in a key role as the Veterans Services Officer.

Social Science and Global Studies, Center for Black Studies to host Screening of “Talking Black in America” documentary April 9

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Social Science and Global Studies and the USM Center for Black Studies will hold a screening of "Talking Black in America" Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Gonzales Auditorium (room 108) of the Liberal Arts Building on the Hattiesburg campus.
