Guest Artist Series Featuring Brian Hecht Set for Nov. 11

Brian HechtThe University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Music presents its Guest Artist Series featuring bass trombonist Brian Hecht on Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus. Hecht will also give a masterclass on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Intermezzo @ Woods Gallery. Both events are free and are open to the public.

Bass Trombonist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Hecht is one of the leading bass trombonists in the world today. Hecht has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, and many more. Previously, Hecht held the bass trombone position with the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, D.C.

Hecht has been the recipient of numerous awards including first prize at the 2009 Zellmer-Minnesota Orchestra Trombone Competition, 2009 Edwards Big 12 Bass Trombone Solo Competition, and ETW’s 2009 Trombone Quartet Competition.
