Careers on the Coast Job Fair Set for March 19 on USM Gulf Park Campus

University of Southern Mississippi students and alumni will have a special opportunity to learn more about employment possibilities during the annual “Careers on the Coast” Networking and Job Fair set for Tuesday, March 19 at the University's Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The event, host by Career Services, will be held from 4–6:30 p.m. in the Gulf Coast Library, third floor on the Gulf Park campus. More than 50 employers from across South Mississippi are expected to participate.

Employers will be on hand to offer information on a variety of full-time, part-time and internship positions, as well as volunteer and community service opportunities with select organizations.

“All employers at the fair will be in attendance with the purpose of recruiting students or alumni for jobs or internships, and the employers will also be helping students to engage in conversation and develop confidence and awareness about themselves as it relates to their professional pursuit,” said Jona Burton, assistant director of Career Services for the Gulf Park campus.” In the past, students have received both job offers as well as internship opportunities from attending the career fair.”

Added Burton: “The most valuable take-a-way is the opportunity to practice delivering the “60-second elevator pitch” to potential employers and beginning to lay the ground work for future professional relationships.

The event is open to all current USM students and alumni. The first 50 students will receive a complimentary gift. Business attire is required.
