Dr. Joe Paul with a Dixie Darling team memberThe World Famous Dixie Darling’s Alumnae Association is hosting a fundraising event featuring recognizable area personalities who will vie for an opportunity to kick up their heels with The University of Southern Mississippi’s dance group at an upcoming home football game.

The participants include Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker, former USM Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Joe Paul, Father Tommy Conway, Jamie Massengale and Brion Monroe.

Each will have a jar with his image on it, placed in businesses around town and on The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus. The namesake of the top two jars with the most money will strut with the Dixie Darlings on the field at the home football game, Sept. 28.

“The Dixie Darlings Alumnae Association is looking forward to the 2019 football season” said Tracy Smith, director of the Dixie Darlings. “We can’t wait to see The Pride of Mississippi Marching band and the newest high-kickers strutting their stuff for a good cause.”

This is the inaugural fundraising event of this type and will raise scholarship money for the 2019 Dixie Darling team.

“So now it’s up to our incredible fans to choose the ‘winners’ ” Smith continued. “Every donation helps our team and puts one of our special guests closer to their high-kicking debut.

Jars are locates at Patio 44, The Depot Coffee House and Bistro, Glory Bound Gyro Co., Keg and Barrel (both locations), Mugshots, and Goodyear Eagle Tire on Highway 98.
