The University of Southern Mississippi's College of Business and Economic Development continues its International Business Speaker Series with a presentation by Shelly Reboul, Export Sales Manager at Sanderson Farms at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 25 in Scianna Hall (Room 1048) on the Hattiesburg campus.

Reboul's presentation is titled, “Realizing Export Opportunities.” Dr. John Lambert, Associate Professor in USM's School of Management, explained that one of the challenges facing new exporters and experienced exporters alike is the discovery of new markets for goods and services.

“Exporters globally must seize upon and master opportunities in which they have a strategic or competitive advantage. These advantages may be in technology, in mechanical ability or in sheer know-how,” said Lambert. “There are frequently mature technologies in use in more advanced markets, that are perfect for emerging economies. The trick is to find these opportunities and carpe diem; seize the day!"

Reboul, a graduate of USM's International Business program, has six years' experience at Sanderson Farms in building, maintaining and enhancing customer relations around the world. A native of Bay St. Louis, Miss., Reboul served as a Corp Member for AmeriCorps prior to attending USM.

As a student at USM she participated in a study abroad program in Madrid, Spain that opened her eyes to a global workplace.

Reboul also serves as a member of the Mississippi District Export Council where she works to provide insight to Mississippi businesses and assists in preparing these products and services for successful exporting.

The International Business Speaker Series is a joint effort of the Mississippi District Export Council and the USM College of Business and Economic Development. Members of the Mississippi District Export Council are appointed by the US Secretary of Commerce, and are selected for their knowledge of and experience in exporting.
