Psychology Faculty Members Chosen for Lucas Award

Five University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Psychology faculty members have been chosen for the prestigious Aubrey Keith Lucas and Ella Ginn Lucas Endowment for Faculty Excellence Award.

The endowment was established in honor of USM President Emeritus Dr. Aubrey K. Lucas and his wife, Ella, to support and reward faculty excellence in instruction and research. In an effort to support faculty, the endowment can be used for travel, laboratory expenses, wages, books, audiovisuals, or other sources.

Recipients from the School of Psychology include:

*Dr. Melanie Leuty, associate professor and director of the training for the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program

*Dr. Ashley Batastini, assistant professor and director of the Correction and Forensic Psychology Lab

*Dr. Mike Madson, professor and director of the Behavior and Alcohol Research Lab

*Dr. Dan Capron, assistant professor and director of the Anxiety and Trauma Research Program

*Dr. Mark Huff, assistant professor and director of the Memory, Attentional Control and Aging Lab

“We could not be more proud of our faculty members selected for the Lucas Award,” said Dr. Joe Olmi, director of the School of Psychology. “Their dedication to this institution and the students is displayed on a daily basis.”
