MAEOP and USM AOP make donation to Eagle’s Nest Pantry

Dr. Tamara Hurst, center, a faculty member in The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Social Work, accepted donations for the Eagle’s Nest Pantry from members of the Mississippi Association of Educational Office Professionals (MAEOP) and the USM chapter of MAEOP, the USM Association of Office Professionals (USM AOP) on October 25th during the Mississippi Association of Educational Office Professional Development Seminar (MAEOP PDS).
The Eagle's Nest Pantry is the result of a project started in 2016 by the USM School of Social Work to address food insecurity among the university’s students and staff. It is located in the basement of The Hub building, and allows clients to choose what they need, whether it's canned vegetables, bread, or food for their pets. Days and hours of operation for the pantry are Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Eagle's Nest continuously accepts donations of non-perishable items, as well as monetary donations. Suggested items for donations include:
- Canned fruit
- Canned milk
- Canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc.)
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Boxed or individual servings of macaroni and cheese
- Spaghetti sauce and noodles
- Shelf-stable prepared meals (beef stew, ravioli, lasagna, vegetarian meals, etc.)
- Hygiene items (shampoo, toothpaste, tooth brushes, soap, deodorant, etc.)
- School supplies (pens, three-hole punched paper, spiral notebooks, etc.)
