Pam Moeller, Director of External Relations for The University of Southern Mississippi's School of Ocean Science and Engineering, has been selected to take part in the 2019 Class of Leadership Mississippi.

Leadership Mississippi is an annual program of the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) and is the second-oldest statewide leadership program in the nation. Participants are selected by a committee of MEC's Leadership Mississippi Alumni, and they work together in a training program that combines individual study, group sessions and networking experiences. Since its inception in 1974, Leadership Mississippi has graduated more than 1,500 alumni.

“I am both honored and excited to be a part of the upcoming class of Leadership Mississippi. I look forward to meeting the other representatives from our great state and working together to grow as leaders,” said Moeller.

Moeller has worked for USM since 2008, where she began as assistant to the director of the University's Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs. In her current role, she oversees communication efforts for the School of Ocean Science and Engineering, and develops and fosters relationships with local and regional businesses, governmental groups, non-governmental associations, and coastal residents to promote coastal- and marine-related research, outreach and education.

In addition to her responsibilities at USM, Moeller has served on the board of directors for the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Jackson-George County. She is a 2018 Leadership Gulf Coast graduate, a 2012 Leadership Jackson County graduate and a 2018 Women of Achievement Finalist. She is also a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, serving as the 2019 Women's Build co-chair for Harrison County.

“We are so very proud of Pam's achievements, as they are a result of her hard work and advocacy for the University's mission. Her participation in Leadership Mississippi is more than just a well-deserved recognition, it is a reflection of the highest standard of true leadership we value at Southern Miss,” said Dr. Monty Graham, USM School of Ocean Science and Engineering Director.

Moeller earned a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University. She and her son, Michael, live in Biloxi.
