The Southern Opera and Musical Theatre Company at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) extends an invitation to anyone who has ever performed in a musical at the USM School of Music to join current student performers for the finale of Showbiz: A Century of Showtunes, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Symphony Orchestra on March 12, 2020.

“The many talented performers who have graced our stages have a wonderful history of collaborative performance with the Symphony,” said Dr. Michael Miles, interim director of the Symphony. “It seemed fitting on this auspicious anniversary to invite them back to join us for a grand evening of musical theatre.”

Interested alumni are encouraged to visit usm.edu/music to register their participation and learn more about the event details, music, rehearsal, and social activities. They may also search for Showbiz Centennial Alumni Event on Facebook.

Alumni are also asked to share this event with their former cast-mates and colleagues around the globe so that a broad representation can join in the special evening.

The creative team that developed the popular series has created a fourth installment that promises to be the most entertaining production to date. This production will survey the musical theater songbook to bring you a fast-paced review of the best show tunes from the past 100 years of musicals.

Joining the talented students will be School of Music alumni Ezekiel Andrew and Nikisha Williams, fresh from their recent roles in Ragtime and Hamilton respectively.

Tickets for the event are available at the Southern Miss Ticket Office, 800.844.8421, 601.266.5418 or southernmisstickets.com. For more information, please call the Symphony office at 601.266.4001.
