From all of us at EagleTHON, Thank You.EagleTHON, a student organization at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), recently held their annual dance marathon event virtually for the first time. Founded four years ago, EagleTHON raises funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through a student-led campus movement.

EagleTHON’s annual marathon event was planned for April 25, but due to restrictions on social distancing designed to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the organization was challenged to regroup.

What followed was two days of hourly, virtual programming that highlighted the service of members of the campus community as well as the families and children who benefit from the services of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, resulting $52,863.84 in funds raised, the most ever by the group.

“Though this year wasn’t what we expected, we remained resilient and steadfast in our efforts as we transformed our event virtually,” said Kayley Safley, EagleTHON’s vice president for campus outreach. “It has been amazing to see the growth and community built, and we will never stop in our efforts to be miracle makers.

“If you can help change a child’s health for the better, you are changing the future and we’ll always be proud to serve as that happens.”
