Guest Artist Series Presents Organist Loriane Llorca on Feb. 11

French organist Loriane LlorcaFrench organist Loriane Llorca will perform at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Music as part of the Guest Artist Series on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus. This event is free and is open to the public.

Llorca will perform a program of concert music for the pipe organ that covers both traditional and modern repertoire that aims to make the audience feel the immense musical richness of the organ.

“Llorca has achieved international stature at a young age with her competition successes and residency at the palace of Versailles. She will inspire you with her keyboard virtuosity and musical interpretations,” said Associate Director Dr. Douglas Rust.

In 2017, Llorca was the grand prize winner of the Jean-Louis Florentz International Organ Competition. Llorca was apprentice organist at the Center for Baroque Music at the Chateau de Versailles and is presently serving as artist-in-residence at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis in New Orleans.

This is the first in a series of recitals to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Holtkamp pipe organ which was completed in 1970 at the University of Southern Mississippi Marsh Auditorium.
