Post Graduate Certificate Nurse Practitioner

Nurses who are already prepared at either the master’s or doctoral level for other roles may apply for the post graduate certificate program with advanced specialization as a family nurse practitioner (FNP) or psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). Both the FNP and PMHNP program prepares students to care for patients across the lifespan.

All students entering the nurse practitioner tracks must complete a graduate level course in advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology and advanced health assessment for nurse practitioners.

Our NP programs are fully aligned with the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Competencies for Nurse Practitioners and the APRN Consensus Model. Upon completion of the NP programs, graduates are eligible to obtain APRN Board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (FNP or PMHNP) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FNP).

Didactic courses are online with one campus visit per semester and students complete clinical requirements in their own community or nearby communities across Mississippi.
