Nurse Practitioner Post-Graduate Certificate and Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree Option

About Us

Through the Integrated Academic Practice Partnership for Advanced Nursing Education, a grant funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the College of Nursing at the University of Southern Mississippi now provides an option to obtain a post-graduate certificate in another NP specialty focus, either family nurse practitioner (FNP) or psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

This pathway has:

  • Separate programs with integrated curriculum
  • Individualized plan of study based on current degree and  NP certification

The deadline to apply for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree is March 1, and the deadline to apply to one of the post-graduate certificate programs is September 1 (You can also go ahead and apply to the post-graduate certificate program by March 1 at the same time you apply to the DNP.) We highly encourage you to apply to both programs at the same time.
