Teacher Outreach

The School of Polymer Science and Engineering is excited to offer a week long workshop July 8-12th, 2019, for middle school science teachers (5th – 8th grades).  Five middle school teachers will be selected to participate in the workshop sponsored by the National Science Foundation: EPSCoR Center for Emergent Molecular Optoelectronics (CEMOs) grant.  During the workshop teachers will receive training in lesson development, laboratory safety, team work, communication styles, spend time in CEMOs laboratories, observing research and two days developing research-based activities for their classroom.  Selected teachers will receive a $1000 stipend for participation.  Interested teachers should click the link to apply for the program before the application deadline of Friday, May 17th

RET participants visit Algix Bioplastics

The School of Polymer Science and Engineering offers many programs geared toward helping teachers learn to teach polymer science in their classroom. Our National Science Foundation: RET in Engineering and Computer Science Site for Sustainable Polymer Engineering Research, is a 6 week summer research program for teachers.  Click here for more details and how to apply for the summer program .
