Connect: Building Community at Southern Miss
The Office of the Provost and the Center for Faculty Development invite faculty and staff to submit proposals for Faculty First Week 2022. Now in its fourth year, Faculty First Week provides time for colleges and schools to meet, engage with campus resources, and learn from one another’s expertise as we prepare for the academic year ahead.
For 2022, our theme for Faculty First Week (FFW) will be Connect: Building Community at Southern Miss to focus on connecting and reconnecting after the extended COVID period while cultivating a sense of belonging and purpose to encouraging inclusivity as we continue to work together. As you think about what you would like to attend, or what you would like to present or lead, consider these questions:
- How does your work at USM contribute to growing, solidifying, or nurturing community?
- What classroom experiences develop our diverse students’ sense of belonging?
- What resources support students’ individual needs and pursuit of education at USM?
- How can relationships with colleagues enhance the academic experience?
- What resources or strategies would you like to learn about to cultivate community?
- How can we encourage involvement across all members of our community?
Please register for the individual events you plan to attend so we can manage venues for presentations, order refreshments and supplies, and track participation and feedback.
