Multi-Tiered System of Supports - PBIS

Tier 1

This two day training will provide the participants the opportunity to begin to build systems necessary to provide Tier 1 Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. These systems will include, but are not limited to, data collection and analysis, developing prevention strategies, teaching appropriate behavior and evaluating Tier 1 systems. In addition, the critical elements/systems of PBIS will be aligned to Mississippi’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) essential components. It is highly recommended that a school-based team attend the training. The team should include, but is not limited to, school administrators, general education teachers, special education teachers, behavioral specialists, and family members.

  • Complete Training Readiness Form
  • Complete Commitment Form

Team Leader SWPBIS

Tier 1

This one day training will provide the participants the opportunity to enhance their skills of being a SWPBIS Team Leader. Participants will develop skills in conducting effective Team Meetings, delegating responsibilities to other team members and making data based decisions at the school – wide level.
  • Participated in SWPBIS training.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports - PBIS

Tier 2

REACH MS would like to invite you to attend our Regional Multi-Tiered System of Supports- PBIS Tier 2 training. This two-day training will provide the participants the opportunity to begin to build systems necessary to provide Tier 2 Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. These systems will include data collection (Tier 1 and Tier 2), interventions, and progress monitoring.

  • Complete Tier2 Training Readiness
  • Complete Commitment Form
  • Tier 1 80% Tiered Fidelity Inventory

  • Consistent use of school–wide data for making decisions as evidenced by the monthly “Big 5” reports

Multi-Tiered System of Supports - PBIS

Tier 3

REACH MS would like to invite you to attend our Regional Multi-Tiered System of Supports- PBIS Tier 3 training. During this two and a half day training participants will learn how to build systems necessary to provide Tier 3 Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Systems include, but are not limited to, data collection, interventions, progress monitoring, Practical Functional Behavior Assessments, and Behavior Intervention Plans. In addition, the critical elements/systems of PBIS will be aligned to Mississippi’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) essential components. Teacher Support Team members, including the school administrator, should attend.

  • Complete Tier3 Training Readiness

Multi-Tiered System of Supports
Universal Design for Learning
UDL 101 Training

This training will introduce participants to Universal Design during four days of training spread out over the school year.  The initial day of training will provide:

-Knowledge of the theory and research basis of UDL

-Information on turning novice learners into expert learners

-Strategies for designing curriculum aligned to educational standards for varied learners which support engagement and achievement.

-Methods for using new technologies to make curriculum more effective.

Subsequent sessions will thoroughly explore the three UDL Principles:

-Day Two: Providing Multiple Means of Engagement by providing options for recruiting interest, sustaining effort/persistence, and self-regulation.

-Day Three: Providing Multiple Means of Representation by providing options for perception, language, mathematical expressions, symbols, and comprehension.

-Day Four: Providing Multiple Means of Action and Expression by providing options for physical action, expression/communication and in managing oneself/one’s resources in order to achieve a goal (executive function).

PBIS Supports for Elementary Students with Severe Disabilities

This one day training provides participants the opportunity to learn how to create an engaging learning environment for students with significant cognitive disabilities in which all students can access information. Components discussed will include structuring the classroom, developing a daily schedule, implementing appropriate transitions, and creating a reinforcement and consequence schedule. Participants will also receive basic information on implementing Universal Design for Learning inside the learning environment. This session will provide information specific to early childhood and elementary classrooms. Please bring a copy of your daily schedule and your reinforcement and consequence schedule (if you have one).

PBIS Supports for Secondary Students with Severe Disabilities

This one day training provides participants the opportunity to learn how to create an engaging learning environment for students with significant cognitive disabilities in which all students can access information. Components discussed will include structuring the classroom, developing a daily schedule, implementing appropriate transitions, and creating a reinforcement and consequence schedule. Participants will also receive basic information on implementing Universal Design for Learning inside the learning environment. This session will provide information specific to junior and high school classrooms. Please bring a copy of your daily schedule/a student’s daily schedule and your reinforcement and consequence schedule (if you have one).

Early Childhood Tier 1: Relationships and Supportive Environments

This one day training provides participants with information on positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) for pre-k classrooms and programs using the Pyramid Model as the foundation for the training. The session begins with background information on challenging behaviors which then sets the stage for the main content of the training – building relationships and high quality pre-k classroom best practices. Some of the areas of best practice included in the training are classroom arrangement, classroom design, learning centers, schedules, transitions, large and small groups, and giving directions. The session ends with guidance on developing expectations and rules for classrooms/programs. Attendees will review case studies and participate in hands-on activities to “practice” learned content. Opportunities will be provided to reflect on one’s own practices. No prerequisites are required for this training.
