I conduct archaeological research in the Southeastern US. I have a long term excavations at one of the largest late prehistoric mound centers in the Mississippi Valley, Winterville Mounds, near Greenville. In addition, I specialize in the analysis and interpretation of animal remains recovered from archaeological sites to better understand prehistoric subsistence and human adaptations. I have a number of undergraduate and graduate students currently working on archaeological projects on various aspects of Mississippi prehistory
