Qualifying Examination

After 12 hours of course work, each Ph.D. student will sit for a qualifying exam consisting of three to five questions related to topics covered in the science and mathematics education courses he or she has taken up to that point. The questions will come from the professor(s) who have taught the SME courses taken by the student. The student will take the exam in the Center's Resource Room or Conference Room on a computer without internet access and will be proctored by Center staff. The student will begin the exam in the morning at a predetermined time and may take as much time as desired to answer the questions. It is expected that the exam will take approximately 4 hours.
