Pi Sigma Alpha

Welcome to USM's chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha
The Political Science Honors Society

Founded in 1920 at the University of Texas, Pi Sigma Alpha is the National Political Science Honor Society, now comprising over 740 chapters nationwide. The USM chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha (Chi Delta) was founded in 1998.  The purpose of the chapter is to stimulate productive scholarship and intelligent interest in the subject of  government and politics; promote a better understanding of politics among its members; advance and disseminate knowledge and interest in political science; and organize, promote, and conduct seminars, conferences, research, discussion groups, and publications in political science.

Membership criteria: Junior standing or above; at least 10 hours in Political Science coursework, including at least one 300+ level course, with no grade lower than a B in that coursework; a 3.25 GPA or higher. Undergraduate members need not be Political Science majors. Graduate Students must have 10 hours in Political Science with no grade lower than a B (undergraduate coursework cannot be counted); and an overall GPA 3.5 or higher.
