Barry Haywood MSW, ACSW, MBA

Coordinator of Outreach & Professional Development

Mr. Haywood earned his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in sociology from Louisiana College in 1968, and his Master of Social Work degree from Louisiana State University in 1972.  In 1987 he received the Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. 

Mr. Haywood founded the social work department at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1972 and managed the department for the next 25 years.  He retired in 2002. 

He has been closely associated with the Southern Miss School of Social Work since its creation in 1974, having served as one of the original and also one of the  longest serving Field Instructors for the program. 

In early 2005, he returned to the school in a project management capacity related to preparing for its accreditation site visit.  Later that year he assumed the duties of Coordinator of Student Recruitment and Alumni Relations.  He assumed his current position in January, 2018.
