Enrichment Fund Guidelines

The purpose of the Student/Faculty Enrichment Fund is to provide assistance for faculty members in hosting voluntary, out-of-class social gatherings for undergraduate students they teach and/or advise. 

 

Although funding is limited, faculty are encouraged to apply for funding by following the guidelines below:

  1. Prior approval is required by completing the Student/Faculty Enrichment Fund Approval Form
  2. Requests are limited to one event per semester per faculty member (exceptions will be considered upon request).
  3. Reimbursement for an event will be “after the fact” in a form of a reimbursement check from the University of Southern Mississippi using the “Business Related Expense Form.” Original itemized receipts and a signature list of all participants are requirements for reimbursement.
  4. Students should be either a) members of a current undergraduate class taught by the requesting faculty member or b) undergraduate students advised by the requesting faculty member (exceptions will be considered with explanation).
  5. The maximum reimbursement per event will be $150.
  6. The fund will not reimburse “field trip” activities or food associated with class-related field trips.
  7. The fund will not reimburse workshop or orientation meals.
  8. There shall be no alcohol consumed at these gatherings, even if purchased by participants with personal funds.
  9. Please complete a copy of the University’s Employee Reimbursement Voucher and the Business Related Expense Form (https://www.usm.edu/procurement-contract-services/accounts-payable-forms-and-instructions; attach a roster with student signatures for all student participants, and include original, itemized receipts to support expenditures for the event. 
  10. The Business Related Expense Form and supporting documentation should be sent to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, R.C. Cook Union Rm. 210 or to Campus Box 5071.
  11. Any exceptions to these guidelines must be approved in advance by contacting Dr. Michael King in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs at m.l.king@usm.edu.
